Meet Our Team

Claire M. Moravec is a nationally recognized homeland and national security executive with more than a decade of operational and strategic leadership experience across intelligence, counterterrorism, and crisis response in both the public and private sectors. She most recently served as Illinois’ Deputy Homeland Security Advisor and Deputy Director of Homeland Security, where she launched and led the State’s first Office of Homeland Security—building a Statewide enterprise focused on preparedness, prevention, and education. Claire previously served as an intelligence and operations leader at the FBI, where she was a founding member of the Bureau’s Social Media Exploitation (SOMEX) team and played a key role in high-impact counterterrorism and intelligence operations. She earned the FBI Medal of Excellence for her work on digital threat disruption and strategic threat intelligence. In addition to government service, Claire was Senior Manager of Trust & Safety Response Operations at Snap Inc. (Snapchat), overseeing high-risk incidents involving platform misuse and user safety. She also served as Chief Operating Officer of a threat intelligence startup specializing in behavioral and insider threat assessment. Across roles, Claire has advised on some of the nation’s most pressing security threats and led the development of mission-critical frameworks for protecting people, assets, and critical infrastructure. Claire holds graduate and undergraduate degrees from Columbia University and Loyola University Chicago, respectively. She is also an adjunct professor at the University of Southern California, the University of Denver, and Saint Xavier University.
